Review/Swatches: Urban Decay Naked 2 Basics Palette

As a lover of the original Urban decay Naked palette, and the original Naked Basics even more, I felt it was in my destiny to get my hands on the Naked 2 Basic's palette, even if I am a little late to the game on this one. Review and swatches will come after the jump!

This palette launched realitvely recently, in August of this year. It is very similar to the first Basics palette in that it is housed in a sturdy, rubberized case about the size of an iPhone 4, with four matte shades and one satin shade. The main difference between these two palettes is that much like the difference between the regular Naked 1 and Naked 2 palettes, Naked 2 Basics is cooler in tone than the original. There are five total full sized shadows in the palette:

Skimp: Satin peachy beige
Stark: Light matte pinky beige
Frisk: Matte cool grey taupe
Cover: Medium mate reddish brown
Primal: Matte medium brown with yellow undertone
Undone: Dark matte brown, nearly black

(top to bottom: skimp, stark, frisk, cover, primal, undone)

The four darker shades show up very well on my very fair skin. The two lightest shades, skimp and stark, are a bit harder to see, but on the eye they work well as subtle all-over shades or (in skimp's case) a highlight. These shades are darker on my skin than the originally Naked Basics palette and have a bit less diversity than the original. The quality of the shadows, as always with Urban Decay, is superbly buttery and easily bendable.

I can see this palette working well for people with medium skin tones on the warmer side (as these shades are cooler and would contrast well), however they still work well on my cool toned fair (read: pale) skin. This palette retails for 29 dollars and can be purchased from Sephora here.
