Review: Boscia Makeup Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil

There's just something that I love about taking off my makeup. It's just so relaxing. Don't get me wrong, I adore wearing makeup, but it always makes me feel so good when I take it off at the end of the day (or, in most cases, right when I get home from school/rehearsal and put my pajamas on). That being said, I always try to have the most relaxing way get it off at the end of the day, and I've heard a lot of hype about this oil, so I decided to give it a try.
This is actually the second cleansing oil that I've ever tried, the first being the MAC cleanse off oil, which I didn't like very much on account of how it seemed to be a lot of work for what didn't even get all of  my makeup off, particularly my waterproof mascara, which I wear daily.
The product comes in pretty cute packaging (which I shouldn't actually care about, seeing as this is a review of the product itself, but you know, it helps) that I promptly added to my scarily large collection of little cardboard boxes.

There's a nice little plastic "lock" on the pump of the oil so as to not get any of the oil out when  you're not using it. This is my second Boscia cleanser with this little lock, and the second time I have tried to keep it on before eventually throwing it away because it's too much work (hashtag lazy girl life) to take it off and put it back on every single time. Well.

Onto the product itself! It's (as expected) an oily-gellish consistency, and smells sort of... minty, but with something else added in as well. Either way, it's a light and pleasant smell, which is very good considering that I'm going to be slathering it all over my face.

About the slathering, basically this works the same as any other cleansing oil. You pump it onto your fingers (I find that one pump for the face and an extra pump for the eyes works for me, but I don't wear too much makeup on a daily basis) and massage it into your (dry) skin. It's kind of a weird feeling, I have to admit, to spread oil all over your dry face, but it's sort of nice at the same time. I find that the product glides (is that the right word) over my face a little better when I warm the oil a bit between my fingers before applying it to my face. It's also supposed to have a tingly sensation (which explains the "Cool" in the product's name), but I've never noticed that. Which is good, I suppose, because that does not sound like a thing that would be enjoyable for my sensitive eyes! Anyway, after the face, you rub the oil all over your eyelids and lashes to remove all of that makeup, and then add some water to emulsify the product, massage it around a little more, then rinse it all off with water or a warm washcloth. I find that this stuff gets off almost every scrap of makeup, save a little bit of waterproof mascara occasionally, which comes off easily with a little liquid eye makeup remover (I love the one from Philosophy). But, I don't want to just tell you, *game show voice* why don't I show you?

I put together a couple products that I sometimes find difficult to remove. Here they are:
Top to bottom: tint, blush, mascara, gel liner, liquid liner, cream shadow, foundation

Behold, the arsenal. Benefit's Lollitint, Tarte's amazonian clay blush (in "Dollface"), Tarte's Lights Camera Splashes mascara, Benefit's They're Real push up liner, Stila stay all day liquid liner, Maybelline's 24-hour color tattoo ("Inked in Pink"), and Covergirl's 3-in-1 outlast stay
fabulous foundation ("Ivory").
I put two pumps of the oil onto my arm and spread it around a bit. After about thirty seconds, it looked like this:
Hot, right? I might start going on dates like this.
I then added some water, rinsed, and dried. My arm looked like this:

The mascara, shadow, blush, and foundation were all totally gone. But, as mentioned before, there were still traces of the waterproof eye makeup (To be fair, the Benefit liner is really a beyotch to get off. I haven't really found anything to actually get rid of it yet). Interestingly, the tint also stayed, although that was physically stained into my skin, so I don't know how well it would be able to come off. Makes me wonder about using this as blush, though...

Anyway, this cleansing oil leaves my face (and arm, now) very smooth and soft without any trace of makeup, dirt, or oil. I barely even feel the need for a second cleanse when I use this, since it's so effective.

I've begun using this daily to remove makeup on the days where I'm wearing some sort of foundation (most days), and I'm a convert. This stuff is great. It retails for 28 dollars at Sephora here (there's also a mini travel version for if you travel a lot or just want to trial this for a little bit less of an investment)- while it's expensive for a cleanser, I think it's definitely worth the money for how much my skin loves it!

(P:S: one little con for this oil is that it can tend to leave my eyes a bit cloudy- it may just be a contact-wearer thing, but it's very annoying and probably unsafe. I find that if I keep my eyes tightly closed this is less of a problem. The good news is that even if it gets in my eyes, it never stings or bothers them!)

I hope you enjoyed this review:) Happy cleansing!
Abby
